And We Have A Winner!

Today is the day that my amigo and co-facilitator, Jason Stasyszen and I are announcing the winners for the Mere Christianity book giveaway. Next week, we’ll be starting a discussion on this book and we hope you’ll come back and join us.

It is a great honor and privilege to announce my winner this time ’round. It is also with much laughter because when we talked today he was so sure that he’d won it–and that was before the drawing! In fact, I was so stunned that one of his numbers (he had 3 entries) came up in the random number generator, that I ran it three times. And all three times, it chose his number. I think this was a sign. So…

Dusty Rayburn from www.rlcblog.com! You won!

And now I’ll confess that I haven’t started the book yet. But I have been reading excerpts from Mere Christianity in Zondervan’s A Year with CS Lewis. So, I looked back through my highlighted material and gleaned a few quotes to perhaps stoke your interest.

“For Christianity is a fighting religion. It thinks God made the world…But it also thinks that a great many things have gone wrong with the world that God made and that God insists, and insists very loudly, on our putting them right again.”

—–

“He shows much more of Himself to some people than to others–not because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong condition. Just as sunlight, though it has no favourites, cannot be reflected in a dusty mirror as clearly as in a clean one.”

—–

“I quite agree that the Christian religion is, in the long run, a thing of unspeakable comfort. But it does not begin in comfort; it begins in dismay…and it is no use at all trying to go on to that comfort without first going through the dismay.”

—–

“Besides being complicated, reality, in my experience, is usually odd. It is not neat, not obvious, not what you expect.”

And for  more, you’re going to have to join us next Wednesday! Please go by Jason’s site at www.endlessimpact.com to see who won over at his place. And then please come on back by next week!
