We talked a little earlier this week about JOY and I confessed that even though a lot of my blog posts are very serious, in person, I can kind of be a bit of a goober. As a break from the serious monotony of the week, I thought I’d get a little silly with you and show you a typical evening in my house.
Did you know I have a dog? I do. A 55-pound pit bull/boxer mix that I adopted almost two years ago. The missionary kids that found her named her before they gave her to me. Sadie.
Now, you might think that since I have a large-breed dog, she’s not that cuddly.
HA!
Take tonight, for instance. I was sitting in my recliner, listening to something on my laptop, with headphones on, when I became aware of this very familiar background noise… Sadie had parked herself by my right elbow and had begun to whine. I pushed the headphones back and said, “Baby, wanna sit with Mommy?” In five seconds flat, she had hopped in my lap and parked her thick, fuzzy body across my left thigh.
But it’s not enough for her to be held. She wants to be petted. NON-STOP for the duration of her time in my lap.
Dear anyone I tweeted mispelled tweets to tonight: I was typing one-handed with a beast between me and the keyboard.
Need photographic evidence?
Hey, Sadie! What do you think I am? A couch?!
And how ’bout this little guy? Sadie did not like him takin’ up Mommy’s time & attention (and especially my lap). But I sure did enjoy myself chasing him around my un-babyproofed house for three days! (Note my RED face. Yeah, buddy, I was gettin’ a work out THAT weekend!)
I’d apologize for throwing a gratuitous baby picture at you, but c’mon! Look at that little face! How could I resist?
Hey Beth, when are you going to let me keep the kids again? 🙂
I heart Sadie! :o)
Sadie is awesome. You should have named him Big Mike.
Our Lacie thinks she’s a lap dog too. If you stop petting her, she will literally force your hand back on her head to pat it. I think she thinks she’s a poodle and not a Terrier/Austrailian Cattle Dog mix. 🙂
Sadie is a cutie! My dogs have always imagined themselves to be lap dogs too — even the 85-lb one.
Love the pics!
You make me want a dog and I am not a dog person.
AWWWWWWWW! Great pictures! The cuteness is overwhelming. I need to leave here and go grunt and/or spit…. 🙂
What cutie pies!!! Sooooo adorable!!!!
