Furious Love (and a Giveaway)

I think that if we took a poll and asked people what their greatest fear is, we would unsurprisingly learn that the winner would be something along the lines of rejection or being alone or being unloved. At some time, I think that everybody has felt these things. I readily confess that I have.

In 1987, I escaped from an abusive situation, witnessed my older brother being shot and almost killed, moved into a new town, started a new school, and began my first major slide into depression. What I know today, that I didn’t know then, is that I wasn’t alone or unloved. These are the lessons I’m still learning, and because I know I’m not the only one who needs them, I’d like to share them with you.

Today, my dear friend, Jason, and I would like to announce our newest Wednesday book discussion by announcing our latest book giveaway:

Manning

“The Furious Longing of God” by Brennan Manning

I’ve always struggled to read non-fiction (which you may not have guessed since I’ve been co-leading book discussions on non-fiction books here for nearly 3 years). But when I opened this book, and began to read that I am loved unconditionally, that there is someone who considers me to be his beloved, and that he wants to be with me forever, I was hooked. I had to know how and why someone would love me that much, and how I could engage in that relationship. And that’s what I found in this book.

As always you do not have to participate in the book discussion to win this book. But I would love you to come along—read, comment, and teach me more about this love—and feel this love in your own life.

If you want to enter, here’s how it works:

1 – Each time you comment on this post, you earn one entry.

2 – Each time you tweet or retweet about this post, you earn one entry. (Just remember to mention me — @sarahmsalter – when you tweet or retweet, so that I can keep an accurate count of your entries!)

3 – Each time you mention the giveaway on your website, blog, or Facebook, you earn three entries. (You’re going to want to leave me a comment here, with your link, to let me know what you’ve done, so that you get credit for your entries.)

Next Tuesday night, I will choose the winner, using a random number generator. And on Wednesday, I’ll announce the winner!

Also, make sure you go by my co-facilitator, Jason’s site, to enter on his site. His rules are a little different than mine, so make sure you read them carefully!

Two weeks from today, we will begin to discuss!

We hope to see you here!

Thomas, “halfway committing”? What does that mean? Does that mean you’ll participate in 6 out of 12 chapters? LOL! We look forward to seeing you whenever we see you. Thanks for coming by and for entering! 🙂

  8. Sarah Salter says:

Lori, it’s always good to see you in my bloggy neighborhood! Thanks for coming by! And thanks for the encouragement! We hope to see you on Wednesdays, for the discussion. 🙂
