Return of the Book Discussion (Giveaway Included!)

I know, I know…. I’ve been gone so long you started to assume that the aliens had come to take me back to my home planet, right? Nope. I’m still here. And after holidays and travel and much, much, much busyness, we’re ready to launch into a new book!

I’ve always been a bit skeptical about choosing a single word to be the theme for my year. Life just seems too big and complex to be contained in a single word, and so I’ve never even tried to choose a word to be my “word for the year.” But throughout the month of December, as I took personal inventory of my life and my year, I was captivated by an impression (which I’ve often realized is God speaking). And this impression was that over the last year, I’ve been ascending from deep darkness (depression, anxiety, PTSD) and moving into the light. I immediately grasped onto the truth of the scripture that Jesus is the light of the world. And I got a whole new understanding about what 1 John says about how when we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship – and with that fellowship comes healing. While processing those thoughts, I realized that for the first time, I have a word for the year. If you haven’t already figured it out, that word is “light.”

Now, one of the resources that really spoke to me as I was going through this thought process was the book Love Idol by my friend Jennifer Dukes Lee. I cannot recommend it highly enough! And, in fact, we considered doing book discussion on it. (You never know what the future holds!) But even as we were considering Love Idol, Jennifer introduced us to another book – Margaret Feinberg’s Fight Back With Joy.

And here we are…

Feinberg Book

Today, we begin a giveaway of Margaret Feinberg’s book, Fight Back With Joy. As usual, you do not have to commit to the weekly book discussion in order to be eligible to win the book. Each comment on this blog post is worth one entry. Each tweet (in which I am tagged) is worth one entry. And each Facebook post (in which I am tagged) is worth one entry. It’s just that simple. And NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT, I will choose randomly from the entries and announce a winner.

Easy peasy.

Two weeks from today, we will begin discussion. And we will begin to learn to fight with joy – a lesson that I’m more than ready to begin.

You can also go visit my friend and co-facilitator, Jason, to enter to win the book at his place!

What are you waiting for? Go ye therefore and enter to win!
