You may not have realized this, but me and Jason Stasyszen have been on a short hiatus from our book discussions. We recently finished “The Grace of God” by Andy Stanley. And then, I suppose because he was bored and needed something to keep him busy, Jason decided to move his family from Alaska to Oklahoma. Which turned into a much-needed, well-deserved break from the book discussion.
But guess what?
We’re back!
And we’re having another giveaway!
You remember how this works, right? At the beginning of every book discussion, we each give away a copy of the book. You don’t have to participate in the book discussion to win the book. But we hope you’ll come around for at least some of the book discussion (a) because it’s fun and (b) because we like you and like to hear what you have to say!
A word or two about the book and then we’ll commence the giveaway…
It was a little harder than usual to choose a book this time. But I think we’ve come up with a winner. And the reason I think we’ve come up with a winner is because honestly, the book makes me a little uncomfortable in that “oh-gosh-my-toes-are-gonna-get-stepped-on” kinda way.
The next book we are going to discuss is Bob Sorge’s “Fire of Delayed Answers.”
Let me give you a taste:
“If you’re willing to embrace his fire, then prepare yourself for some pain. Christ calls us to the cross because we’ll never become like Him apart from the pain.”
“God’s first priority in our lives is to make us fruitful—it is not first and foremost to make us comfortable.”
And I think I’ll quit there because the truth of it is starting to scare me and I don’t want to scare us both, because I know I need to hear this!
So now, on with the giveaway!
If you want to enter, here’s how it works—
1 – Each time you comment on this post, you earn one entry.
2 – Each time you tweet or retweet this post, you earn one entry. (Just remember to mention me — @sarahmsalter – so I can keep an accurate count of your entries!)
3 – Each time you mention the website on your website, blog, or Facebook, you earn one entry. (You’re gonna want to tag me on Facebook, Twitter, or by a blog comment here to let me know so I can count it!)
Next Tuesday night, using a random number generator, I’ll choose a winner and then post that winner in Wednesday’s blog post!
Be sure to go by my co-facilitator, Jason’s website, because you can also enter there and have TWICE the chance to win! His rules are a little different than mine (because he’s way more tech-savvy), so make sure you read ‘em!
Two weeks from today the discussion begins. Are you ready? GO!
Sounds heavy, but also exactly like what I need to hear! Love you, Sarah!
I think I’m going to enjoy this discussion. Looking forward the the perfect discomfort!!
I know what you mean, Sarah. I believe it’ll be heavy in some ways, but also filled with hope because the pain is leading somewhere–it’s not a dead-end. What grace our God shows us! Looking forward to diving in. Thanks Sarah!
I’d love to win this book. Sounds like something I REALLY need to read!
Even if I don’t win, I look forward to reading each post from you!
I tweeted it too!
